Cath Maige Tuired survives in a single 16th-century manuscript copy of an older text, and tells of the Second Battle of Moytura: the Tuatha Dé Danann, led by Lugh, overthrow the tyrannical Fomorian king Balor and his kin. It is the primary source for Lugh's rise to kingship and the manner of Balor's death.
